Since our pets live with
us, we must be able to teach them the
do's and don'ts in the house. Like a child,
we must be able to establish authority
over them to ensure that they act accodingly
and behave properly. In order to achieve
basic dog obedience,
appropriate training is required and that
requires a lot of patience, especially

them to behave in a way that make them
pleasant and safe especially in the presence
of other people and pets.

A
Brief History of the Dog:
Dogs have been domesticated for
most of human history and have been
man's best companion over the years.
Stories have been told about the
dog's unparalleled service to mankind.
Serving admirably in war and risking
their lives to save persons in danger
are truly notable acts of kindness
from man's best friend. It was also
told that when Pompeii--the Roman
community destroyed by Mount Vesuvius
in AD 79--was finally excavated,
searchers found evidence of a dog
lying across a child, another apparent
evidence of the dog's loyalty to
its master. The reciprocal relationship
between men and dog is mostly believed
and can be stated with some degree
of certainty, to be one born out
of necessity. Dogs wanted shelter
and a solid food source, and humans
wanted companionship and protection
from the wilds of nature.
Dogs exist in a wide range of sizes,
colors, and behaviors. Some, such
as the Doberman pinscher and the
German shepherd, serve as alert
and aggressive guard dogs. Others,
such as the beagle and the cocker
spaniel, even bred for hunting,
can still be playful family pets.
Other dogs can be a shepherd's partner
such as the collie and the Welsh
corgi, which can herd farm or range
animals. A mongrel dog, however--one
with many dog
breeds in its background--can
just as easily fit into family life.
